Given Microsoft has the largest share of the home computer market, I think you can guess where most companies focus their driver development.

Just because Linux doesn't support your hardware doesn't mean it has poor hardware support. I have to install about 5 3rd-party drivers just to get my hardware working correctly in Windows. In Linux, I only have to install one (Nvidia).
