Why can't my vista computer see any other computers on the network or workgroup? (Other computers are xp)?

Elva Batie: Every computer needs to have a unique name and every computer must have the same workgroup name. Get ride of the generic name workgroup and make one up of your own. Include letters,numbers and characters to this name and assign all the computers to this new name,for security reasons.The Workgroup name is common to every computer on the internet unless you change it.
