Stanton Villao: Absoluely not....the lowest harness slot on a CA is just over 10inches and the average newborn is way smaller than that. and harness must come from just at or below the shoulder for safety rearfacing. the seats that we recommend most often for newborns in the convertible category are the graco myride, the sunshine kids radians, and the true fit. Those have the best infant padding to help with height and safety....Show more
Giovanna Cramblit: The only con with using a convertible from birth is that you won't be able to use the seat as a baby carrier, to easily transport from house to car, plop in a shopping cart, etc. However- if you are going to use a sling or a wrap, this will hardly be an inconvenience for you- carrying a baby alone is lighter than hauling an entire car seat!Unless you've got reason to believe otherwise, your child will more than likely come out at more than 5 pounds, so it should fit OK.The only thing I would look closer at is if ! you want the one with the weight limit to 50 or 65 pounds forward facing. I'm assuming this car seat expires after 6 years, so you wouldn't be able to use it after it's expired anyways. But it is always a good idea to keep a child harnessed as long as possible, so I personally would go with the 65 pound one. It is entirely legal to put a child in a booster at 50 pounds though, so it's personal preference....Show more
Damaris Weiler: The standout feature of the Safety 1st Complete Air car seat is the Air Protect side-impact protection system. The manufacturer offers some videos on their website that show the crash testing, and the Air Protect system certainly appears to provide excellent head protection in a side impact crash...
Melvin Nakama: I hate those 'wings' I worry the lil one won't be able to see out the window. I have an Evenflo - Triumph. LOVE IT! Best, the straps adjust on a slide. Me three rode in it for a short while, rear--facing, and it fit him we! ll. Now, the baby is in it, and we have a 2nd one for him now ! almost 4 and 32 pounds, so we forward-faced the seat. http://www.evenflo.com/product.aspx?id=148&pfid=27... Just remember to rear-face as long as the seat allows. http://www.car-safety.org/rearface.htmlDon't fall into 'well he just isn't comfortable' trap. Through the years, babies will fuss going in their seat, rear-facing or not. Safety is #1, and rear-facing is best at least to age 2. Like I said, mine made it to almost 4 rear-facing. Graco has a seat that will rear face to 40 pounds. Both harness to 50-65 pounds forward-facing. Far safer!...Show more
