Perry Deshazior: Car Insurance I honestly believe is a load of bull for youngsters.I am 23 now and bought my first car at 18 (passed at 17 but couldn't afford a car lol). In the last 5 years I have gained 5 years no claims bonuses and have paid £7,000 in insurance. If you are 17 - 25 you are in the risk category, this is because it is a fact that 17 - 25 year olds are more likely to crash than any other age group. This is the main reason insurance is so high for youngsters, not that I am defending Insurance companies as they are F*cking evil and I will give you 2 reasons why.1. Someone smashed up my car in the middle of the night. I tried to claim for the damages but I had to pay the first £500 and they would take away my 2 years no claims bonus (which means my insurance goes up by £1,000 next year and £500 the year after) So to put it in English if I fixed the car myself it would cost £1,500 if I get the insurance company to do it it costs me £2,000!!!!! I never cla! imed for it and I couldn't afford to fix it myself, the car was sold for £1,500 off its value and yes I was fully comp (always have been)2. My insurance last year was £1,000 with 4 years no claims bonus. I have just had my renewal through and it has gone up to £1,100... I have not made any claims, no points, nothing... I asked them why it has increased and they said because a lot of people have had accidents in my post code area... WHAT A LOAD OF BULL! And yet it gets worse, I did a quote online and with the same company and it came to £600 THATS ALMOST HALF PRICE and do you know why? BECAUSE LOYAL CUSTOMERS ARE ALREADY IN THE NET SO THEY PAY DOUBLE, BUT NEW CUSTOMERS GET INSURANCE AT HALF PRICE TO REEL THEM IN....Show more
Raymon Fiene: Ok this is such an annoying post because of the answers posted by some idiots that are clearly well past their prime. I am 19, i pay just under £2000 for my car insurance on a 1.2 litre corsa 53 plate. It has no modifications or ! anything like that, i never drive it if i've had a drink i hav! e never had a claim, or an accident in almost 2 years of driving. My first car was a KA worth about £600. This had to be replaced as it wasn't suitable for my daily commute to work. Not every teenager/young person drives like an idiot! But the general perception from insurance companies is that young drivers will be less responsible therefore more likely to crash/cause an accident, so they try to price us out of the market so they don't have to insure us. I have come across may bad drivers who are much older, fair enough they have a scheme based on experience but why should someone who is say 30 get cheaper insurance than a 17 year old if they pass on the same day?...Show more
