Can an employer require an employee to drink alcohol when entertaining clients?

Hai Biggart: if its at your place of work as for as your work place address, no, of course not. if it is at your home, well aren't you the king or queen of your own home. if it is at a bar and you and your boss is their and the client, then still its your life and your body. If you want a drink, drink it, if not don't, have a coke instead.

Toya Braskett: There are so many choices now for non-alcoholics drinks with flavoring similar to the real thing. So by drinking these beverages, you can appear to keep your client at ease and comfortable without losing your edge. And you may be surprised by how many of your clients would appreciate the option..

Rick Duchane: NO

Emery Blando: No it is illegal, just say it is against your religion, or get really drunk then tell your boss you have a drinking problem and you need to go to rehab. They would have to help you as part of the americians with disabilities act

Gaston Edgcomb: That would be incredibly ! stupid to insist on. I certainly wouldn't encourage my employees to do that. I want them alert in dealing with clients, not impaired. The more sensible approach would be to insist that they not drink alcohol when entertaining clients.Although not illegal in any state of which I am aware, there certainly might be some kind of job action involved, particularly if you are a member of a union....Show more

Asley Quickle: they don't look required to provide a water cooler for you. they'd be required to do some thing about the water popping out of the tap because it really is risky. check out the dep. of exertions internet website.

Jarrod Darnall: Absolutely not. This would be very troublesome for the employer and could be used as an example of creating a hostile work environment under discrimination laws IF the employer took action against you for declining to drink. Even if the employer took no action but continued to insist you engage in this behavior, a discrimin! ation claim could be made.

Jeremy Donohue: Absolutely NO! T! Some people can't even drink alcohol. I know that I am not suppose to because of the medications that I take. So no, your employer can not make you drink, even if it means losing a client.
