Are dog chew toys safe for rabbit to eat or chew on?

Boris Hadsall: i'm sure they're safe.... they're both animals... i wouldn't recommend eating though....

Vern Serratos: ROPE dog chew toys......thanks.....

Dwight Siniard: there are many different types of dog chew toys... rubber? stuffed fabric? rope?

Kelly Bistodeau: Rope toys are not safe for rabbits. They could chew off pieces and swollow them, causing intestinal blockage. Get rabbit toys there are plenty of them. There are also lots of home made toys. Paper towel rolls, box filled with bedding and hidden treats (for digging). Box that is taped shut(with treats inside) for chewing and digging, containers with uncooked pasta, paper bag filled with hay, plastic keys(kind for babies), paper towel rolls filled with hay....Show more

Hugo Pittari: problem w rope dog toys is that a bunny can easily tear them apart and accidentally eat a piece that may become lodge in his intestines. If you are using one, let him play w it only under direct supervision ! and make sure it is intact and not shredding. Better find something made of wood, since wood will help wear down their incisors and they are less likely to eat it, or the best option: fresh hay, also helps wear down teeth and totally edible and good for them.
