Financial aid probation.?

Toby Women: You may not be able to receive financial aid. You were suppose to return the check to the financial department, not keep it. You will have to clear this up by making arrangements to repay the loan. If you do not repay the loan, and when you ever receive an income tax return, the government can withold the amount from the income tax return.

Hilde Heskett: caba is right

Gertrude Darke: the automatic probation only applies at the school you were attending. if your student loans are in re-payment stage, your only concern is with the possibility of defaulted loans. If you are supposed to be making payments, but havent been doing so, the dept of education will require you to clear up the defaulted amount before offering you more federal loans. if you are not in default, you're good to go. also, i have been seeing a lot of student who attended a school and dropped out, but the school never returned federal funds that were dispersed and it took a lot to ge! t it cleared up for the student. when you leave a school, it is very important to get an official letter of withdrawal just incase something happens. go to the fafsa website and change the school code to reflect the school that you will be attending. good luck with your new school!...Show more

Adam Momaya: You will not automatically be put on probation at your new school. The Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended, requires institutions of higher education to establish and apply standards of academic progress that must be met by all students in order to qualify and remain eligible for assistance from the Title IV student financial aid programs. There are minimum standards required by each school, but each school is different in how those sta! ndards apply. Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federa! l Student Aid - www.fafsa.ed.gov) and any in-house application(s) the new school may require.Talk to a financial aid officer at your new school for more information/guidance - especially as to what their SAP (Satisfactory Academic Policy) is for financial aid. Good luck!...Show more

Malcom Bourek: as far as i know the financial aid probation will only apply if you return to the same school. since you are going to a different school you should not have a problem with the financial aid part...worst case they will put you on academic probation for the first quarter or semester
