What is Corporation/Co.?

Jess Grizzel: Some US-based corporations are actually called "Limited" rather than "incorporated". "Limited" is the "L" of "plc" in British practice. In Italy, for instance, they might be "S.p.A.", i.e., "joint stock company". In Germany it might be "GmbH" or "company with limited liability". Same idea: shareholders actually own the company.

Avis Brantner: One of the main differences between a public corporation and a public limited company is geographical. The public corporation is based in the U.S., while the PLC is based in the U.K.
